Further information

This imposing residence, built in the Norman regionalist style, was commissioned by Baron Henri de Rothschild. A keen horse-racing enthusiast, he chose to settle near the racecourse. The villa was built in 1907 on the site of Ferme du Coteau, which had belonged to the family of novelist Gustave Flaubert since 1837.From 1924, the villa belonged to American press publisher Ralph Beaver Strassburger. His heirs bequeathed it to the Town of Deauville in 1980. Unusually, the villa has retained its original period furnishings and décor, along with its ornaments, numerous horse paintings and caricatures that offer a glimpse into the festivities of the era.
