Further information
In the vast orchards surrounding the buildings, stroll among the standard apple trees, planted ten metres apart, where around thirty varieties of cider apples flourish. Along the way, admire the traditional farm complex, with its distillery, washhouse and restored bread oven.
Next, follow your guide to the apple press, where you will learn about the apple harvest from September to December, the art of blending and the distillation process using an impressive 2,500-litre double-distillation copper still. An essential step in separating alcohol from water, the resulting spirit* is then aged in oak barrels, which give it its colour and aromas. No fewer than 1,200 barrels, previously used to mature Calvados*, Sherry*, Port* or Banyuls*, are stored in the ageing cellars, where they help create unique blends.
And what would a distillery tour be without tasting its spirits*? Discover the art of tasting Calvados*, as well as Normandy Pommeau*, cider*, perry* and even gin*.
